All of Us Are Dead: An audio review

amoffa99

We're going back to the basics for another zombie apocalypse series! All of Us Are Dead is what I would call an action, drama, coming-of-age, zombie apocalypse thriller. What makes this series unique, is its choice of setting being a high school. It was released in January of this year and is pending award nominations for “Best New Actor/Actress,” for Yoo In-soo, Lee Yoo-mi, and Cho Yi-hyun. The series was announced by Netflix in April of 2020, and that it would be based on Joo Dong-geun’s webtoon Now at Our School. The leading cast was announced shortly after, in which director Lee Jae-kyoo said he chose great actors who were still unknown to the public, to create better immersion into the series.

There are a lot of different characters that you will meet in this series, both main and supporting. Here are the major characters (in my opinion) that you should know of before getting into the review:

Nam On-jo

Lee Cheong-san

Lee Su-hyeok

Choi Nam-ra

Yoon Gwi-nam

Lee Na-yeon

[you may recognize her from Squid Game]

Jang Ha-ri

Park Mi-jin

Yang Dae-su

Park Sun-hwa

English teacher

Lee Byeong-chan

Science teacher

Nam So-ju

Firefighter/paramedic, On-jo's father

Song Jae-ik

Police officer

Park Eun-hee

Member of the National Defense Council representing Hyosan

All of Us Are Dead gets a 3 out of 5 zombie heads. I'll admit, I was a bit harsh in my audio review but I stand by what I said. I do want to mention here that despite the show not being the best, the acting itself is great. I think if the focus was on college student instead, the show (with its great acting) would have been more enjoyable. I'd still recommend this show for those who have nothing left on their zombie watch-list, not so much as a starting point. During the more action-packed scenes I likely would not notice a zombie apocalypse occurring right outside of my house, though during the slower paced scenes I would probably get out of bed and look outside.

Your podcast speaking voice is really professional and well done. I think you should consider more of this medium!
